ASTYPALAIA

Astypalaia is an island of the Dodecanese with particular influence from the Cyclades, is regarded as a "bridge" that connects the Cyclades and the Dodecanese, combining the unique architectural style of the Cyclades and the natural beauty of the Dodecanese. Administratively is attached to the Region of Southern Aegean and the Dodecanese prefecture (Kallikrates) belongs to the province of Kalymnos. It covers an area of ​​99.19 square kilometers and is located 27 miles South of Amorgos. The residents are more than 1000 and they mainly stay at the municipalities Chora, Pera Gialos Livadi Maltezana (Analipsi) and Vathy.

Astypalaia has many beautiful beaches easily accessible from the mainland. The coastline is clean and crystal clear and it spreads with a special butterfly shape for about 20 kilometers, and thats the reason why Astypalaia is considered to be the "Butterfly of the Aegean". Full of high rocks and hills,  beautiful beaches and picturesque villages, Astypalaia invites you on a magical journey to the Aegean blue and the white of the houses. An island with a rich history, tradition, unique images with beautiful white houses and whitewashed yards, picturesque churches, is the ideal place for quiet and relaxing vacations.

Today the largest part of the road network is paved and very soon the paving on the rest of the island will be completed. Astypalaia  is not particularly large island, enabling visitors to reach any spot on the island in a very short time. It has a medium-sized airport that allows connection to Athens and the biggest islands of the Dodecanese. Shipping links although they are not as frequent as in Cyclades, allows fast and efficient transport for both passengers and goods.
